When adding onto an existing structure, it's virtually impossible to match material colors. Even if the contractor requests material from the original manufacturer, the runs will have different appearances. Also surface weathering and environmental affects, such as pollution, add to the complexity of making an addition blend with the original structure.
Nawkaw Corporation was the first in North America to offer masonry staining as a service. The color treatment technology and proprietary product line adds color and texture to brick, block, stone, EIFS, precast and tilt-up concrete.
Masonry stains can last for 25 years or more depending on which product is used. Look for a stain with a solid warranty and extensive field and laboratory testing. Ask for references to be sure you're working with a reputable company. There are two key factors when it comes to masonry staining. The first is having the right product. The second is hiring a company with qualified professional applicators.
When an addition was added to this concrete block building, Nawkaw was contracted to match the preexisting color, texture, and decorative accents for the new block. Nawkaw's proprietary products were used with astonishing results. The original color was blended on-site and professionally applied by crews who are trained to duplicate the color ranges and surface textures of the existing masonry.
