The staff at Decosup (AKA Decorative Concrete Supply) has come up with a very easy way to score concrete by using what we call "Scoring Tape". Scoring Tape is a reinforced filament tape with a black line placed in the middle of the tape and running the length of it.
How to use Scoring Tape?
Mark point "A" and then point "B", stretch and place the tape. Once the tape is down, score your line by cutting through the black line, this system eliminates the need for chalk lines, and allows for much more accurate cutting, after scoring just remove the tape and you will have a nice, clean, even line.
The advantages are: The line is always visible (chalk lines tend to be blown away by the air coming from the saw). So no more guessing where the line is!
There is no residue, sometimes, depending on the chalk used, the lines will remain on the concrete, and are very hard to remove if not impossible.Scoring Tape eliminates the mess.
The tape is marked every 4", so when making a tile pattern (or any design requiring straight lines) you can follow the markings and set the pattern with very little measuring to do, which saves time and money while providing exact placing of lines.
