The TMCP team is the grandfather of Thinshell building technology, inventing MetalStudCrete (aka MetalCrete) for composite walls, floors and roofs where light gauge metal framing in tension and thin conventional concrete in compression are combined through their compoosite bond. Unlike its counterparts in expensive CMU with extensive scaffolding and conventional tilt-up with heavy rebar mats, these systems are produced on or offsite with relatively unskilled labor, are economical, light, simple, fast, unleash architectural and engineering imaginations to produce energy efficient, sustainable LEED green buildings that are on time, under budget and represent a significant role in this next generation of building technology.
There are 3 major Thinshell building technologies in which light gauge metal framing in tension bonds with thin conventional concrete in compression to produce composite walls, floors and roofs and are based on the work of Ernie Bodnar and Tony Ruiz.
One of the three, MetalStudCrete (aka MetalCrete), was developed by Ruiz normally used with plain metal"C" sections or Tri-Chord, an anomaly. Ernie Bodnar extended value with TMCP, taking a different approach and reducing the weight of the components while enhancing strength and improving thermal efficiency. Following his departure from MSC, Ruiz went on to invent patented and patent pending SteelCrete SCI, SCII and SCIII. The TMCP system is more thermally efficient than Tri-Chord or MetalStudCrete, and is stronger by far, more efficient, is considerably faster and costs far less to use.
