Unlike autoclaved aerated concrete block, Liteblok™ is not autoclaved. Rather, a non-toxic foaming agent is introduced to create a closed structure of discrete air pockets within the concrete. The blocks are laid without mortar and are interlocking and lightweight allowing for significant savings in construction time and cost reductions as great as 30% over traditional wood frame construction. No additional insulation is required with Liteblok™ as it has inherently high insulation values. The blocks are fireproof and termite resistant.
