Chicago Metallic Calls for Ceiling Design Competition Entries

Chicago Metallic invites architects and design professionals to enter the Ceiling Innovation Awards for Design Excellence competition. The contest is open to industry design professionals who have completed projects in which the ceiling system comprises at least 50 percent Chicago Metallic product. The projects must have been completed between January 2002 and November 2006, and entries are to be postmarked by November 30, 2006.

"We established the Ceiling Innovation Awards for Design Excellence competition to recognize and reward the design community for their innovative ceiling solutions," says Brooks Williams, market manager for specialty products for Chicago Metallic.

According to Williams, the designs will be judged by a panel of nationally recognized architects, an editor of a leading architecture magazine and a professor of architecture at a leading institution. The panel will evaluate entries on their innovation in design, ability to meet specified design challenges and objectives, and overall aesthetic appearance.

Entries may be submitted for the categories of Education, Healthcare, Transportation and Other Commercial Applications. Submissions must include a Statement of Design Challenges to explain the rationale and the inspiration behind the ideas; a list of Chicago Metallic products used; reflective ceiling plan drawings; and high-quality photographs of the project. The grand prize winner will receive $1,500. Gold winners in each of the four categories will receive $250 and a certificate of design innovation. Silver winners will receive a certificate of design excellence. All winners will be recognized in upcoming Chicago Metallic promotional materials.
