East Teak Brings "Green" to its Hardwood Offerings

East Teak Fine Hardwoods, Inc., the industry leader in First European Quality teak lumber and other fine hardwood products, announces the offering of an exclusive and limited line of reclaimed teak and rosewood timbers. As East Teak's first 100 percent recycled product line, these new hardwoods allow East Teak to offer an eco-friendly or "green" solution to customers.

East Teak Brings Green to its Hardwood Offerings

Based on the unique and limited availability of reclaimed hardwoods worldwide, East Teak will be the exclusive distributor of prime grade recycled teak and rosewood in North America. All of East Teak's reclaimed woods are recovered by hand from old neglected structures and recycled for new use, thereby avoiding the need to fell living trees. In addition, the wood is individually hand graded to ensure the highest quality and reusability of the wood.

"Each piece of our recycled wood has a special story to tell," said Matt Mladenka, marketing and sales director for East Teak. "Since all the wood is reclaimed from old beams, rafters and flooring, each piece brings the unique characteristics of 60-100 years of aging – making it a very distinctive and durable product."

Recycled wood resists temperature changes and weather elements, as a result of long seasoning time and decades of air drying. Rich natural oils also make the timber exceptionally dense and strong.

According to Mladenka, this new product offering coincides with a growing demand from architects, contractors and designers for eco-friendly products that can be used on projects needing top quality woods, but that also support the sustainability of forests around the world. "Over the past 30 years, East Teak is very proud to have been the premier supplier of fine hardwoods in the industry," he said. "Adding a new 'green' product offering will open the doors to customers who want access to superior products that can also make any commercial, marine or residential project environmentally responsible.
