Repowering Defined: Your Best Value in Performance Improvement And Emissions Reduction Repowering starts with a simple fact: your package boiler's drums (both steam drum and mud drum) have a much longer life than your boiler's tubes. By keeping your existing drums and combining them with a new gas-tight engineered furnace and a new burner system, you can achieve "new boiler" performance at a fraction of new boiler expense...usually less than 50% the cost of a new boiler system. Additionally, because your Repowered boiler is usually not a new boiler in the eyes of regulatory authorities, you can enjoy new performance while being "grandfathered" for emission regulations. A Repowered system is designed by evaluating 1)ABCO boiler performance together with Coen burner performance, 2) maintenance cost reduction through elimination of refractory, 3) fuel cost, and 4) fan requirements. Don't confuse Repowering with a "rebuild" or a "retrofit". A rebuilt boiler is just a replacement of new parts for old, using the same old technology. (In the case of most package boilers, the technology is 40 years old!) A "retrofit" boiler may include some newly-designed parts, but unlike a Repowered boiler, has not been completely re-engineered to optimize the entire boiler's performance. In contrast, a Repowered boiler from ABCO with a Coen burner has been optimized with 21st century technology.
Keep the drums... upgrade the rest Repowering brings you the benefits of 21st century technology without the downtime, regulatory hassles or expense of an entire new boiler system.
