 GUIDE SPECIFICATION: IBP WINDOWS AND WALL
PART 1 - GENERAL
1.1. SCOPE
1.1.1. Furnish and install all window perimeter frame
pieces, T-Bar grid members, glazing materials, expansion contraction thermal foam tape,
sealants, framing, flashings, and other items necessary for complete window installation
as indicated on the Drawings and specified herein.
1.1.2. Related work specified elsewhere: 1.1.2.1. Glass and
Glazing 1.1.2.2. Sealants 1.1.2.3. Flashings
1.2. Guarantee.
1.2.1. Window manufacturer shall guarantee for a period of
one year from the date of purchase that the Windows will be free of defects in materials
and factory workmanship, and that defective materials will be repaired or replaced
immediately, after proper notification.
1.2.2. The installing contractor shall guarantee for a
period of one year against faulty installation workmanship or water leakage due to on-site
errors.
1.3. Submittals
1.3.1. Submit assembly instruction and installation
drawings as required to indicate methods on construction, location and spacing of
anchorage, joinery, finishes, sizes, shape, thickness and alloy materials, glazing
materials and relationship to the adjoining work.
1.4. Material Storage and Handling
1.4.1. Store material in dry place, off the ground, where
temperature will not exceed 90 degrees Fahrenheit
1.4.2. Handle material to prevent damage to finished
surfaces. Do not install scratched or damaged components.
1.4.3. After installation, protect finished surfaces from
damage caused by ensuing work.
PART 2 - PRODUCTS
2.1. Materials
2.1.1. IBP Glass Block Grid System: Extruded aluminum Glass
Block Grid System for Windows as manufactured by Innovative Building Products, Inc., 2917
W. 7th Street, Fort Worth. TX 76107.
2.1.2. Expansion-Contraction Thermal Foam tape: Adhesive
backed, closed cell foam, 1/16'' or 3/32'' thick, furnished.
2.1.3. Sealant: TradeMate Glass Block Sealant, furnished.
2.1.4. Finish: Selected from manufacturer's standard
finishes and colors.
2.1.5. Glass block units: 7-3/4" x 7-3/4" x
31/8" thick, partially evacuated hollow units, made of clear or colored glass as
manufactured by Pittsburgh Corning, Solaris, or Weck.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.1. Field Conditions
3.1.1. Verify all applicable field dimensions and
adjust as necessary to accommodate window frame.
3.1.2. Examine supporting frame to which window will be
attached. Correct any conditions which are not constructed according to installation
instructions furnished by window manufacturer.
3.2. Installation
3.2.1. Assemble and seal glass block grid system for window
according to instructions furnished by manufacturer.
3.2.2. Apply continuous sealant bead to back of window
Z-bar. Place assembled glass block grid system frame into properly prepared and sized
rough opening and adjust until plumb and level. Screw or nail grid system in place
utilizing all predrilled holes in nailing flange.
3.2.3. Adhere foam tape gasket to each glass block
according to instructions furnished by glass block grid system manufacturer. Carefully
insert glass blocks into grid system from exterior side of window so that each block is
pressed against T-Bar and foam tape does not roll back.
3.2.4. Apply sealant to completely fill channel around each
glass block and wipe flush with surface. Apply sealant to exterior frame corners according
to instructions furnished by grid system manufacturer.
3.3. Cleanup
3.3.1. Clean all exposed surfaces of aluminum glass block
grid system with clean, soft cloth and mild hand soap using gentle rubbing action. Do not
use abrasive or solvent-type cleaners, detergents or paint removers.
3.3.2. Remove all labels from glass block and clean with
soft cloth and water.

2.1.6. Glass block units: 7-3/4" x 7-3/4" x
31/8" thick, partially evacuated hollow units, made of clear or colored glass as
manufactured by Pittsburgh Corning, Solaris, or Weck.

skylight supporting curb. Place assembled glass block grid system frame on curb and
press down to seat properly overlap flashings. Attach frame to cuarb with specified
fasteners and tighten.
3.2.3. Adhere foam tape gasket to each glass block
according to instructions furnished by glass block grid system manufacturer. Carefully
insert glass blocks into grid system from exterior side of window so that each block is
pressed against T-Bar and foam tape does not roll back.
3.2.4. Apply sealant to completely fill channel around each
glass block and wipe flush with surface. Apply sealant to frame caps according to
instructions furnished by grid system manufacturer.
3.3. Cleanup
3.3.1. Clean all exposed surfaces of aluminum glass block
grid system with clean, soft cloth and mild hand soap using gentle rubbing action. Do not
use abrasive or solvent-type cleaners, detergents or paint removers.
3.3.2. Remove all labels from glass block and clean with

on-site errors.

1.3.1. Submit assembly instruction and shop drawings as
required to indicate methods on construction, location and spacing of anchorage,
joinery, finishes, sizes, shape, thickness and alloy materials, glazing materials and
relationship to the adjoining work.

aluminum Glass Block Grid System for Floors as manufactured by Innovative Building
Products, Inc., 2917 W. 7th Street, Fort Worth. TX 76107.
2.1.2. Paver Unit Boots: EPDM Ethlyene Propylene Diene
Terpolymer, a man-made, UV and oil resistant compound furnished with IBP Glass Block
Grid System.
2.1.3. Sealant: TradeMate Glass Block Sealant, furnished.
2.1.4. Finish: Clear anodized matte finish
2.1.5. Glass block paver units: Nominal 6" x 6" x
1" thick, solid glass paver units, in color and pattern as selected.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.1. Field Conditions
3.1.1. Verify all applicable field dimensions and
adjust as necessary to accommodate floor system.
3.1.2. Examine supporting structure and containment opening
to which floor system will be installed. Correct any conditions which are not
constructed according to installation instructions and approved shop drawings furnished by
floor system manufacturer.
3.2. Installation
3.2.1. Insert each paver unit into paver boot.
3.2.2. Assemble glass block grid floor system according to
instructions furnished by manufacturer into prepared containment opening. Top
surface of glass pavers shall finish with adjoining surface and exposed aluminum
surface joints unless shown otherwise on the drawings.
3.2.3. Apply sealant to completely fill channel around each
glass block paver unit and joints between aluminum grid members and wipe flush with top
surface. Perform all sealant work in accord with the requirements of the Sealant Section
of the specifications.
3.3. Cleanup
3.3.1. Clean all exposed surfaces of aluminum glass block
grid system with clean, soft cloth and mild hand soap using gentle rubbing action. Do not
use abrasive or solvent-type cleaners, detergents or paint removers.
3.3.2. Remove all labels from glass block and clean with
soft cloth and water.
