Our History
From our modest, entrepreneurial start-up in 1958, Air Kontrol began and maintains a
continuing R & D policy. This means that every filtration type we catalog is constantly
reviewed, tested and improved where possible. We are proud of our long and extensive
experience in every area of HVAC air filtration.
Air Kontrol is active with many trade associations and has been exhibiting at the annual
International ASHRAE exhibition since 1965. We are proud to have the distinction of
being the founding father of the National Air Filtration Association. Air Kontrol has
earned an international reputation for producing quality products that enhance its
customers ability to provide clean indoor air solutions in thousands of application
problems.
New Technology
Today we direct much of our R & D attention to testing and evaluating different types of
materials and manufacturing process that will enhance present filter performance. Also,
our engineering department keeps Air Kontrol customers on the cutting edge by
developing new filtration products for their market.
Air Kontrol now offers a unique high efficiency synthetic media to be used with many of
its present filter designs as an alternative to micro-fine glass fibers. Some of the
advantages of synthetics over glass is that they are stronger, shed less fibers,
possesses an inherent static charge, and presently do not carry the health concerns
associated with micro-fine glass.
 We also lead the trade with innovative gas phase
adsorption/particulate filtration incorporating
impregnated nonwoven polyester media in our line of
Odor Kontroller® filters. We use such formulas as
activated carbon, potassium permanganate, and blends
containing both properties for a wide range of gas
removal in indoor air environments. These
combinations, in effect, create dual functions - gas
adsorption with particulate filtration. See: Odor

We are extremely pleased with each innovative technique or product that results in
another way to clean indoor air in residential, commercial, institutional, or industrial
environments. We are pleased to say that Air Kontrol was the first filter company to offer
an antimicrobial shield in many of its filtration products. These products fall into our
family of Bio-Kontrol® products. Unlike many other antimicrobials now used by
competitors, our antimicrobial coating will not leach or offgas and effectively inhibits the
growth of bacteria, germs, mold, mildew and fungus on the surface of the filter.
Application
There is new, worldwide public concern and engineering attention to the state of "Indoor
Air Quality." Realizing that air filtration is an important factor in this quest for clean
indoor air, Air Kontrol wants to make certain in every instance, that the best performing
air filter is used, and that it meets the most demanding application requirement.
Whatever the air handling equipment, from residential furnace/AC systems, and room
units, to the most intricate commercial, industrial and clean room applications, Air
Kontrol can furnish the appropriate filter.
