Extruded High Performance Louvers

Applications

Airline's new generation of high performance louvers offers the designer an efficient, economical solution for applications which require handling larger volumes of air through smaller openings. The "HP" louvers are designed with high free area offering low resistance to airflow in both intake and exhaust modes. These models are available with standard or water drainable blades as well as in 4" and 6" depths.

These models are also available with a concealed mullion design. To specify, use a prefix "C" on the model number.

Suggested Specification

Furnish and install, where indicated on the drawings, Model XWD4-HP Stationary Extruded Drainable Blade Louver, as manufactured by Airline Products Company, Hagerstown, Maryland. Louvers shall be 4" deep and fabricated from .081" thick extruded aluminum, alloy 6063-T52. Assembly of members shall be by welding or with stainless steel fasteners. Blades and jambs will have integral channels for drainage of water.

Louvers shall meet the following criteria for testing and performance:

A 48" x 48" louver shall have a minimum free area of 8.91 ft2 (56%).

The free area velocity at the beginning point of water penetration shall be 974 fpm.

The pressure drop at this velocity shall not exceed .12" water gauge.

At an exhaust free area velocity of 1022 fpm, pressure drop shall not exceed .15" water gauge.
