Extruded Drainable Blade Louvers
Louvers, Dampers, & Penthouses
Extruded Drainable Blade Louvers Applications Airline offers the designer a range of depths and blade angles in stationary blade drainable louvers. These models are designed for applications where minimum water penetration and high free area are required. The 45º model has a front gutter to catch falling water, draining it away through channels in the jambs. For extra protection against storm conditions, the 35 models have a center water baffle in addition to the front gutter. These models are also available with a concealed mullion design. To specify, use a prefix "C" on the model number.
*AMCA defines the beginning point of water penetration to be .01

Suggested Specification Furnish and install, where indicated on the drawings, Model XWD-6 Stationary Extruded Drainable Louver, as manufactured by Airline Products Company, Hagerstown, Maryland. Louvers shall be 6" deep with jambs fabricated from .125" thick (8 gauge) extruded aluminum, alloy 6063-T52. Head, sill and blades shall be .081" thick (12 gauge) extruded aluminum, same alloy. Assembly of members shall be by welding or with stainless steel fasteners. Blades will have an integral gutter for drainage of water, be set at an angle of 35° and be spaced on 3-1/2" centers. Louvers shall meet the following criteria for testing and performance: A 48" x 48" louver shall have a minimum free area of 8.13 ft2 (51%). The free area velocity at the beginning point of water penetration shall be 1075 fpm. The pressure drop at this velocity shall not exceed .12" water gauge. At an exhaust free area velocity of 1050 fpm, pressure drop shall not exceed .15" water gauge. |
