Louvers, Dampers, & Penthouses
Extruded Louver/Damper Combinations Applications Several choices are available where the combination of a louver and a damper within a single unit is required. Models XC4/M intake and exhaust are gravity operated. The exhaust model can be coupled with an electric or pneumatic actuator and used for intake and/or exhaust applications. Model XWD-6/M is furnished with a wingnut or pull-chain operator as standard. Optional operators are hand crank, electric or pneumatic. All of these models (except MDD) are furnished with blade seals as a standard feature to reduce air leakage in the closed position.
*AMCA defines the beginning point of water penetration to be .01
oz./ft.2 free area.
Suggested Specification Furnish and install, where indicated on the drawings, Model XWD-6/M Extruded Drainable Combination Louver, as manufactured by Airline Products Company, Hagerstown, Maryland. Louvers shall be 6" deep, fabricated from extruded aluminum, alloy 6063-T52. Head, sill and stationary blades to be .081" thick (12 gauge); operable blades and jambs to be .125" thick (8 gauge). Jambs shall include an integral water drain. Stationary blades shall be spaced at 5-1/2" centers on a 35º angle and include a front gutter to direct water to jambs and mullions. Operable blades shall rotate with 7/16" diameter aluminum pivot pins in nylon bushings and be equipped with rubber gaskets for sealing. All blade linkage shall be concealed within the jamb. Louvers shall meet the following criteria for testing and performance: A 48" x 48" louver shall have a minimum free area of 8.71 ft2 (54%). The free area velocity at the beginning point of water penetration shall be 1019 fpm. The pressure drop at this velocity shall not exceed .05" water gauge. At an exhaust free area velocity of 1250 fpm, pressure drop shall not exceed .15" water gauge. |
