EDGE-GLO® - Page 1

THE ANATOMY OF THE BETTER

Before you even get close to our new Edge-Glo®, you will quickly see how much it stands out from the competition. Its crisply detailed panels are brighter and more evenly illuminated, making the letters more attractive and far easier to read from a distance.

But what really sets our new Edge-Glo® apart is its straight-forward practicality. It begins saving money immediately by installing in less than one-third the time of traditional edge-lighted signs, not much longer than a surface mounted box sign. And with long-life, low wattage LED lamping, Edge-Glo® will reduce your energy and operating costs to practically nil.

Easier on your eyes. Easier on your installer. Easier on your operating budget. Alkco’s new Edge-Glo®…just what you’d expect from the originator of edge-lighted exit signs.

Universal Mount Surface Housing

Supplied with universal mount canopy so a single model accommodates ceiling, flush wall or end-wall mounting. Housing KO pattern also allows end or ceiling mounting over single-device outlet box covers without the canopy.

A. Ultra-Bright, Long-Life, Low-Energy, LED’s

Double-face LED signs consume only 5 watts of input power, single-face signs less than 3 1/2 watts. LED’s last for 25+ years. Energy and maintenance costs are reduced to the bare minimum. Edge-Glo is also available with T5 fluorescent lamps.

B. Plenum Listed Housing

Standard recessed housings are listed for use in plenum ceilings. No need to specify a special housing for plenum ceiling installations.

C. Top Access Wiring Cover

Access to supply wires is obtained through this quick-release cover, eliminating the need to remove the wireway to complete electrical connections. Saves time and prevents job-site loss and damage to the wireway. (See detail in step 3 photo at right.)

D. Alkco-Loc™ Bar Hangers

Supplied with each housing, these proprietary bar hangers lock directly onto T-bar members or can be suspended from the building structure in sheet-rock installations. They provide vertical and lateral housing adjustment and may be rotated 90 degrees to accommodate the required ceiling orientation. Speeds installation and eliminates the need to scavenge the job-site for mounting materials.

E. Crystal-Clear Injection Molded Panel With Floating Letters

Tapered cross-section with silverized bottom produced bright, uniformly illuminated letters. Edge-Glo panels clearly identify the means of egress without aesthetic intrusion. Panel/faceplate assemblies are packed separately from housings to prevent job-site damage.

F. Minimal Faceplate With Concealed Fasteners

Narrow 3 3/4” wide white faceplate unobtrusively blends with the ceiling. Concealed torsion springs facilitate installation & maintenance and snugs tight to the ceiling to eliminate light leaks. Optional decorative finishes may also be specified.

Emergency Battery Back-up

Provides 2 hours of illumination in event of power failure. Standard features include: Solid state temperature compensating variable float charger; sealed lead-acid battery; line-latched low voltage disconnect; voltage sensitive brownout circuit and AC lock out. Battery carries 3-year replacement /7 year prorata warranty.
