ARCWAYS

  1. Treads have a radiused return for added elegance and mitered corners for beauty.
  2. Riser to stringer corner is mitered so only face grain shows.
  3. Only premium-grade Northern Glacier materials used.

OTHERS

  1. Tread has a straight return which shows end grain.
  2. Risers are usually butt-joined to stringer revealing end grain.
  3. Just Appalachian "select or better" materials are used.

ARCWAYS

Treads and risers have tongue and groove joints with extra support blocking. All are screw-fastened and glued. Joints stay tight so stairs can not squeak.

OTHERS

Stairs eventually squeak because treads and risers are butt-jointed using just nails and glue with no support blocking.
