Installation
A. Installation: by Atlas Door authorized
representative and in accordance with Atlas Door standards and instructions.
Optional Coiling Grille
Features / Specifications
- Curtain Patterns available are 9'' (228.6mm)
Brick and Straight Patterns and 2'' (50.8,,) 4'' (101.6mm), 6'' (152.4mm)
and 8'' (203.2mm) Straight Patterns. Also available are Clear-Vue and
Duranodic-Vue plastic inserts for full curtain solid protection.
- Heavy Duty Grille Link: curtain is made from continuous
roll-formed galvanized steel horizontal tubes spaced 1-1/2'' (38.1mm) on center, covered
with aluminum spacer tubes and connected by 0.188'' (4.78mm) thick aluminum vertical
links. Heavy Duty Grille Link is not available in Steel or Stainless Steel.
- Bottom Bar: all grilles over 26'-0'' (7925mm) wide will be
provided with a heavy duty 4'' (101.6mm) bottom bar. This bottom bar is optional on
smaller sizes. Bottom bar sloped or notched to match contour or obstructions in finish
floor.

- High Cycle Springs (for motorized grilles): High cycle
design is to satisfy (50,000) (100,000) cycles. Very High Cycle (VHC) design is to satisfy
in excess of 100,000 cycles.
- Bracket Plates made of (galvanized steel) (stainless steel)
shapes.
- Guides/ Wall Angles (galvanized steel) (stainless steel)
shapes. Wall angles (aluminum) (galvanized steel) or (galvanized steel) (stainless steel)
angles.
- Free Standing Grille Installation: provide
structural steel tubes to fasten to floor and structure above grille.
Tube supports will permit installation of grille independent of walls.
Use 3'' (76.2mm) x 3'' (76.2mm) tube supports up to 20'-1'' (6121mm)
wide. Use 4'' (101.6mm) x 4'' (101.6mm) tubes over 20'-1'' (1621mm)
wide. (Widely used in shopping malls to meet demanding construction
schedules.)
- Hoods fabricated of (galvanized steel) (gray painted
galvanized steel) (tan painted galvanized steel) (aluminum) (stainless steel) .
Shape of hood: (round) or (square).
- Locking: Slide Bolts on bottom bar, suitable for padlocks
(padlocks by others). Cylinder Locks on bottom bar. Cylinder Locks with Thumb Turns,
"Best Shells", or "U-Change It" locks are available.
- Finish: Aluminum Surfaces mill, clear anodized, or bronze
duranodic color. Stainless steel with a #4 finish.
- Pass Door: Furnish 3'-0'' x 7'-0'' (914mm x 2134mm)
pedestrian door within coiling grille. Door frame and transom panel is hanged to rolling
grille tube so that frame and door will swing clear of opening when desired. Hardware to
include heavy-duty hinges and lock set with cylinder lock outside and thumb turn inside.
- Stop Lock Bearing: provided to prevent grille from falling
completely to the floor in the event of damage to operator or spring counterbalance.
- Panic Release Device: ADA emergency egress control. (see pg.
11).
- Transom panel: provide 4-sided frame with curtain material
to match grille.
- Removable Mullions: provide removable guide assembly, below
lintel, between adjacent grilles.
- Motorized Mullions: provide motorized guide assembly, below
lintel, between adjacent grilles.

GUIDE DETAILS
3'' (76mm) or 4'' (102mm) square steel structural tubes as
shown can be furnished by Atlas Door to permit installation independent of walls. Tubes
are bolted to floor slab and roof steel or slab.
3'' (76mm) tubes used for clear openings up to 20'-1
(6121mm) wide.
4'' (102mm) tubes for grille 20'-1-1/8'' (6125mm)
wide and over.
