Adornador
Doorways and archways can be decorated in many ways with Adornador products. Here, we describe the installation of a complete door
treatment to provide comprehensive installation instructions. This treatment uses one D306 Peaked Pediment; one O401 Pediment
Ornament; one H430 Header; one H440 Keystone; one H420 Frieze; one pair of C109 Door Trim Capitals; and two P506 six inch Fluted
Pilasters.
Begin with some layout. On the wall above the opening, draw vertical lines at the center of the opening (C) and at 1/2 inch (1.2 cm) beyond the
left and right sides of the final opening to remain framed by the frieze and pilasters (L and R). Align the center of either an urn or a palmette on
the H420 Frieze with the center line C such that the frieze extends past both lines L and R. Mark and cut the frieze at L and R. Reposition the
frieze, check that it is level, and fasten it temporarily in place with finishing nails.

Next, place the C109 Door Trim Capitals over the left and right ends of the frieze and temporarily nail them in place. Measure the distance
from the bottom of each capital to the floor (these distances may differ.) Cut the P506 Pilasters to length by removing excess at the long plain
section at the bottom of the pilasters.
Now measure the distance between the outside edges of the two capitals. This is measurement W.

With a narrow opening, you will want to permit the H430 header to extend beyond the capitals to match the width of the pediment. So, if W is
greater than 54¾" (139 cm) then measure in one-half W from each end of the H430 along the base. Otherwise, measure in 27 3/8" (695 mm),
along the base of the H430 from each end. Cut out and discard the center section of the H430 header.

At this point, we recommend that all components be dry fitted in place to check for any adjustments that my be required. Once all parts are
plumb and level, draw a pencil outline around the entire layout and then dismantle it.
You are now ready for the final assembly of the parts. Start with the frieze. Apply adhesive to the back surface, position it, and screw it into
place with trim head drywall screws. Continue with the remaining components: the pilasters, then the capitals, the header and keystone, the
pediment, and finally the pediment ornament.
Once the screw holes are filled and primed you can finish your Adornador design with any latex or oil based paint.
