ROOF SPAN TABLE NOTES

  • Total load limits deflection to L/180.
  • For stiffer deflection criteria, use the L/240 column.
  • Slope roof joist at least 1/4" over 12" to minimize ponding.
  • Values represent the most restrictive of simple or continuous span.
  • Span tables are based on shear values for minimum bearing lengths without web stiffeners for BCI depths of 16 inch and less. See BC Calc Software for higher shear values using web stiffeners or wider bearing lengths.
