Virtual Axis & Multipoint Downlights - Page 26

The Virtual Axis® Lamp Cell

VIRTUAL AXIS®  FIXTURES DIFFER FROM OTHER TYPES OF RECESSED AIMABLE DOWNLIGHTS BY VIRTUE OF THE UNIQUE MECHANISM WHICH PROVIDES BOTH THE AIMING AND LOCKING FUNCTIONS. THE VIRTUAL AXIS®  MECHANISM  RELIES ON TWO SETS OF CONCENTRIC SLOTS INCORPORATED INTO THE CELL AND THE CROSS-SLIDE WHICH CARRY THE LAMPHOLDER THROUGH   ITS RANGE OF MOTION IN THE X AND Y AXES. THE SLOTS ARE CONCENTRIC TO A REFERENCE POINT CENTERED BELOW EACH LAMP AND IN PLANE WITH THE TRIM. THE MECHANISM ALWAYS AIMS THE LAMP STRAIGHT THROUGH THIS REFERENCE POINT, WHICH BECOMES ITS "AXIS" OF ROTATION. THIS ARRANGEMENT ALLOWS NEARLY 30% MORE AREA COVERAGE AND MORE COMPACT RECESSED HOUSINGS. THE LAMPHOLDERS ARE DESIGNED TO BE LOCKED IN THEIR POSITIONS AFTER AIMING, ENSURING THAT THE LIGHTING WILL BE CONSISTENT OVER TIME, DESPITE VIBRATION AND RELAMPING.
