Lead exposure is a serious health hazard, especially for children. Studies show that children with elevated lead levels in their blood  can suffer from brain damage, behavior and learning problems, and serious physical impairments. Adults can also suffer from overexposure to lead. This includes reproductive problems, high blood pressure, neurological disorders and muscle pain. Benchmark is an industry leader in dealing with lead paint by conducting risk assessment and inspection.

 

 

Sampling Procedures

Lead consulting services from Benchmark include visual and laboratory analysis of sites and samples. Our sampling includes paint, soil, water and air to determine the overall type and extent of deterioration. We use HUD guidelines in assigning the level of deterioration.

We also use XFR analysis to conduct a surface-by-surface investigation of all painted surfaces to determine the presence of lead-based paint.

 

 

Under H.U.D. guidelines, any building competed before 1978 is presumed to have been painted with lead paint unless proven otherwise.
