1/2" Porcelain Steel Lightning "Multi-Purpose" Chalkboard

Light Gray Exclusive Color
Great for projection, Colored Chalk Recommended

The writing surface on the Lightning Board (specify as Alliance Chalkboard Plus) is glass-hard, smooth, low-gloss porcelain on steel for use with dry erase markers, crayons, pens, pencils and permanent markers (all mediums can be erased with a damp cloth). Lightning Boards also make an excellent projection surface with minimum glare and no hot spots (10° to 20° gloss range; over 80% less gloss than standard porcelain markerboards). A precisely balanced porcelain enamel ground coat is applied to both sides of steel for a uniform, fused surface. The first furnace fuses ground coat enamel into heat-softened 28 gauge steel at approximately 1450°. The ColorFusion ceramic top coat is applied providing the desired color and fade resistant characteristics. The second firing furnace fuses a face coat enamel to the ground coat enamel. The lifetime vitrified porcelain is bonded with waterproof resin glue to Highgrade MDF (Medium Density Fiber Board) core with aluminum back. The Lightning System panel thickness is 1/2". Standard height: 4' (optional 5' height up to 16' lengths). Standard lengths: 3', 4', 5', 6', 8', 10', 12', or 16'. Smaller heights and intermediate lengths are available. Approximate shipping weight: 4 lbs. per square foot. 4.5 lbs. per sq. ft.

1/2" Porcelain Steel Chalkboard No. 113

The Porcelain Steel Chalkboards have a fine-tooth abrasive porcelain surface for writing with conventional chalk. The glass-hard, tough, durable porcelain surface is easily erased. The Porcelain Chalkboard can be readily cleaned with liquid ammonia-added cleaners and water. Crayons, scotch tape and other substances can be removed with scouring powder and water. Fire Rated Boards

Actual Flame Spread Tunnel
Test In progress

Best-Rite is proud to provide our customers with test results on our A-Rated boards and notarized testimony that the boars provided are manufactured the same as the one tested.

To insure quality, Best-Rite uses fire retardant particle board and insulatio instead of the sometimes specified and often used gypsum board. Although more expensive, our substrate attains the desired results of an "A-Rating", while ensuring the long lasting quality that has come to be expected of Best-Rite. Many states now require an "A-Rating" for chalkboards, markerboards, or tackboards that are installed in corridors and/or classrooms. The regulation of "finish material" is done in order to decrease the chance of rapid flame spreading in classrooms and hallways in case of a fire.

For a chalkboard or tackboard to be truly "A-Rated", the complete unframed tack or chalk material must receive a flame spread index rating less than 25 from a nationally accredited laboratory. This is in accordance with the procedures outlined for ASTM-E84, the standard test method for surface burning characteristics of building materials. To ensure that you are receiving an "A-Rated" board insist that the board manufacturer provides a test result on each of their finished "Fire Rated Boards", not just the separate substrates that are used to manufacturer their finished products.
