SPECIFICATIONS: Type S, GS, E, F, NB, L. Furnish and install where indicated on
plans metal roof scuttle Type___, as manufactured by The Bilco Company. Cover
shall be (state metal and gauge for type specified) with a 3" (76 mm) beaded flange
and formed reinforcing members welded to support a minimum live load of 40lb/ft2
(195 kg/m2). Insulation shall be glass fiber 1" (25.4 mm) in thickness, fully covered
and protected by a metal liner (state metal and gauge for type specified). (For Type
GS add: Cover shall have a polycarbonate dome framed with rigid extruded
aluminum and coated for UV resistance). Curb shall be 12" (305 mm) in height and
of (state metal and gauge for type specified). It shall be formed with a 3-1/2" (89
mm) flange with holes provided for securing to the roof deck. Curb shall be equipped
with an integral metal capflashing of the same gauge and material as the curb, full
welded at the corners for weathertightness. Capflashing shall be equipped with the
BilClip™ flashing system, including stamped tabs and Pak-Rope. Insulation on the
exterior of the curb shall be rigid fiberboard 1" (25.4 mm) in thickness. Scuttle shall
be completely assembled with heavy pintle hinges, positive snap latch with turn
handles and padlock hasps inside and outside and a mechanically retained
thermoplastic rubber gasket. Compression spring operators enclosed in telescopic
tubes shall be provided for smooth, easy and controlled door operation throughout
the entire arc of opening and closing. * Operation shall not be affected by
temperature. Cover shall be equipped with an automatic hold-open arm complete
with red vinyl grip handle to permit easy release (for Type S, GS add: and one-hand
control of the cover to its closed and latched position). All hardware shall be zinc
plated and chromate sealed ** and factory finish shall be (refer to chart on preceding
page for finish of type specified). Installation shall be in accordance with
manufacturer's instructions. Manufacturer shall guarantee against defects in material
or workmanship for a period of five years.
*Covers can be equipped with motor operators for opening and closing from a
remote push button control.
**For highly corrosive conditions, when so specified Type 316 stainless steel
hardware will be provided |
