"HLC"
High Load Capacity Vault Access Door
Specially designed for extreme loading conditions such as those generated by aircraft and forklifts.

SPECIFICATIONS: Type HLC. Access door shall be Type HLC, size___ as manufactured by the Bilco Company. Door leaf shall be 3/8" (9.53mm) steel diamond pattern plate reinforced to withstand a live load of 200 lb/in² (14 kg/cm²) plus 30% impact live load.

Channel frame shall be 1/4" (6.35mm) steel with an anchor flange around the perimeter and shall have a minimum cross-sectional area of 7-1/2" in² (4839mm²) to allow for proper water drainage. Door shall be equipped with heavy forged brass hinges having 3/8" (9.35 mm) minimum diameter stainless steel pins and pivot so that the cover does not protrude into the channel frame.

Compression spring operators enclosed in telescopic tubes shall be provided for smooth, easy and controlled door operation throughout the entire arc of opening and losing. Operation shall not be affected by temperature. The door shall automatically lock in the vertical position by means of a heavy steel hold-open arm with release handle. A Type 316 stainless steel snap lock with a gasketed cover plug and removable turn handle shall be provided.  A 1-1/2" (38mm) drainage coupling shall be located in the front right corner of the channel frame. Hardware shall be zinc plated and chromate sealed and all fasteners shall be Type 316 stainless steel [For highly corrosive conditions, when so specified, Type HLC doors are available with Type 316 stainless steel hardware throughout].

Factory finish shall be red oxide primer. Installation shall be in accordance with manufacturers instructions. Manufacturer shall guarantee against defects in material or workmanship for a period of five years.

"FR"
Fire Rated Floor Door
Maintains the 2-hour fire rating of the floor-ceiling assembly

SPECIFICATIONS: Type FR. Fire rated floor access door shall be Type FR- _____ as manufactured by The Bilco Company. Door and frame assembly shall be tested in accordance with ASTM E-119 and UL Listed for a 2-hour fire rating when exposed to fire from the underside. In the closed position, the temperature on the unexposed surface of the door assembly shall not exceed 325 degrees F (162 degrees C) above ambient for the duration of the 2-hour period. Manufacturer shall submit a test report certifying this performance.   Door leaf shall have a 1" (25.4mm) fillable pan to receive concrete [or concrete and____ (specify flooring material type , thickness, and weight)].  Door leaf shall be constructed of 1/4" (6.35mm) aluminum and built to withstand a live load of 150 lb/ft² (732 kg/m²). Frame shall be 1/4" (6.35mm) extruded aluminum with neoprene cushion and continuous anchor flange. Door shall be equipped with a self-contained, pneumatic, automatic closing system which will close and latch the door leaf where temperature exceeds 165 degrees F (74 degrees C)*. A hydraulic hold-open system shall automatically hold the door in the open position.  Compression spring operators enclosed in telescopic tubes shall be provided for smooth, easy operation throughout the entire arc of opening and closing. Continuous hinge shall be heavy duty Type 316 stainless steel. A Type 316 stainless steel slam latch with gasketed cover plug and removable turn handle (topside) and cable release handle (underside) shall be provided. Factory finish shall be mill finish aluminum with bituminous coating applied to the exterior of the frame. Door assembly shall be installed in a UL Listed fire rated floor/ceiling assembly in strict accordance with manufacturer's instructions and details. Manufacturer shall guarantee against defects in material and workmanship for a period of five (5) years.


* When not required by the authority having jurisdiction, the Type FR can be specified without the automatic closing system.
