and measurements to Bird Barrier. We can help you accurately specify Bird
Barrier products, insuring a successful application. Other installers and
customers are encouraged to contact Bird Barrier for assistance in specifying
and installation. These services are free of charge.

On-Site Assistance
Bird Barrier's representatives can visit your site, write specifications or
proposals, and assist with installation. Charges for these services will generally
be assessed.
Certified Installers
Bird Barrier teaches bird control techniques to hundreds of pest control
operators every year. These installers can come in to your building or
restoration project, evaluate and install the proper Bird Barrier products to

1.1 Description
1.1.1 Install Bird Barrier products to keep birds from landing, loafing, roosting or
nesting on architectural structures.
1.2 Quality Assurance
1.2.1 Obtain technical literature from manufacturer, telephone consultation and
plan/photograph evaluation.
1.2.2 Utilize certified installation companies in your area who carry the proper
insurance coverage.
1.2.3 Utilize labor recommended by Bird Barrier for especially challenging
applications.
1.3. Submittals
1.3.1 Submit manufacturers samples, catalog cuts, shop sketches and other
descriptive material.
1.4 Product Handling
1.4.1 Protect Bird Barrier products from damage before, during and after
installation.
1.4.2 If damage occurs to Bird Barrier products, make all replacements
immediately.

2.3 Materials
2.3.1 All metal is stainless steel.
2.3.2 All plastic is u.v. stabilized polyethylene or acrylonitrile polystyrene.
3.0 Execution
3.1 Examination
3.1.1 Examine installation area. Notify architect of detrimental work conditions.
3.1.2 Do not proceed until conditions are corrected.
3.2 Surface Preparation.
3.2.1 Ledges and mounting surfaces shall be clean, dry and free of peeling
paint, rust, bird droppings, nesting material and other debris. Bird droppings
shall be removed in a safe manner; large quantities shall be removed and
disposed of by reputable waste removal companies.
3.2.2 Remove or repair articles that may damage Bird Barrier systems after
installation, such as tree limbs, brush, and loose parts of the building.
3.3 Installation
3.3.1 Install Bird Barrier systems as recommended in company literature. All
glued-on applications shall be adequately glued to clean, dry surfaces. All
mounted applications shall be drilled, bolted, screwed or otherwise securely
mounted as specified by the manufacturer.
3.3.2 Bird Barrier systems shall cover the entire ledge, or shall completely close
all openings.
3.4 Inspection
3.4.1 Visually inspect Bird Barrier systems for loose wires, bolts, fasteners etc.
related to poor installation or surface preparation.
3.4.2 Repair as necessary immediately. |
