MIRAGE DOOR OVERVIEW
Utilizing state-of-the-art high technology contact mechanisms, the Mirage is easily opened and closed. The Mirage "classroom" latch operates
and is exactly like a standard medical suite or office door. In addition, the latch is lockable from the outside only.
Viewing the Mirage from either side, when it is in the closed position, the appearance of the door does not reveal that it is RF shielded. For
hospital use, this reduces the trauma associated with entering an MRI or other medical suite. For security use, the advantages are obvious.
RF SHIELDING PERFORMANCE
- Exceeds MRI performance requirements.
- Exceeds NSA 73-2A performance requirements.
MIRAGE DOOR SPECIFICATIONS

TO PREVENT UNAUTHORIZED ENTRY, THE MIRAGE
IS KEY-LOCKABLE FROM THE OUTSIDE.
|
1.1 Door Leaf: Consists of solid core, plastic laminate veneered leaf with full perimeter
brass contact strip. The leaf is hung from three (3) radial thrust bearing hinges. Two
layers of fully annealed copper sheets are laminated to the exterior surface of the leaf and
electrically bonded to the perimeter brass contact strip to provide RF shielding
effectiveness. A user serviceable brass contact strip with an integral beryllium copper
contact mechanism is attached to the leaf bottom.
1.2 Door Latch: The door handle is of the standard "classroom" type, lockable from the
outside only. All hardware, hinges and latch, have a brushed US26D finish.
1.3 Door Jamb: Consists of kiln-dried dimensioned hardwood directly mounted to dual
skinned shielding panels. The door and frame are integrated and furnished as an
assembly. |
1.4 RF Contact Mechanism: The RF seal is a low-maintenance, high-performance system accomplished without the use of a "knife edge" or
Recessed Contact Mechanism. Replacement of contact mechanisms is accomplished with the use of a screwdriver only. Contact mechanism
consists of a single row of beryllium copper alloy contact strips. Contact mechanism is mounted to the interior side of the door jamb, and not
the door leaf. This mounting location ensures protection of the contact mechanism from the passage of cryogen dewars, carts, personnel and
equipment. The contact mechanism is user serviceable and repairable.
1.5 Threshold: Consists of a solid brass, tapered ramp mounted directly onto the shielded door jamb. This brass sill provides the necessary
RF seal with the door leaf contact mechanism and meets the requirements of the handicapped.

CONCEALED CONTACT MECHANISM
PROVIDES COMPLETE RF SHEILDING INTEGRITY.
|
1.6 Door Operating Force: Door opening "pull" force is less than 20 pounds. Door closing
"push" force is less than 20 pounds.
1.7 Standard Door Opening - 4 ft (1.22m) x 7 ft. (2.13m)
