Jointing and Pointing

Joint Detail

Joints should not exceed ½" and can be flushed or ironed depending on the overall effect required and local custom. For the best visual effect, joints should be recessed about 1/8". For maximum weather resistance in exposed areas joints should be flush pointed or curved recessed (bucket handle). Avoid raked joints.

Coursing Options

Bradstone Traditional Walling is available in a unique range of heights and lengths which enable it to be laid either coursed, random brought to course or fully random.

Coursed – the simplest design option, using either the same course height throughout, or exploiting the range of block course height.

Random Brought to Course – the simplest method for creating a random appearance, using 9" nominal course height Jumper Blocks. The higher the percentage of Jumper Blocks within the total wall area, the more random the appearance.

Random Brought to Course 10% Jumpers Random Brought to Course 15% Jumpers

Fully Random – requiting rather more attention to design and construction detail, this method centers on the use of Jumper Blocks of 8", 9" and 10" nominal course heights.
