INSTALLATION

Surface Preparation: Concrete shall be in place for 7 days(minimum) after forms are removed and must be dry. Surface shall have a smooth finish (broom finish is not acceptable) and be free of voids, sharp protrusions and form release agents. Curing agents must be approved by Carlisle. Remove forms as quickly as possible. When metal decking is used for forms, it must be vented.

Fill holes or voids with non-shrink grout. Grind or scrape protrusions and outside corner edges. Block or brick walls shall have mortal joints struck flush. a parget coat may be required for every rough surfaces.

Refer to Carlisle 701 series drawings for detailed information.

Saw cut cracks greater than 1/16" wide to 1/4" X 1/4". Clean saw cuts and expansion joints less than 1" wide. (Contact Carlisle Representative regarding primer). Install backer rod into expansion joint, fill joints and cracks with approved sealant. Tool sealant flush; allow to cure over-night.

Install a 1" fillet in all inside corners. Fillet may be formed with a non-shrink grout or approved sealant.

Apply CCW Primer and allow to dry. Apply CCW-701 Membrane: 8" wide over sealed cracks, joints, hairline, cracks and cold joints; 12" wide centered on axis corners.

Penetrations and protrusions should be water proofed using CCW-703V Liquiseal in accordance with Carlisle 701 series details.

Priming: Stir primer thoroughly. Apply CCW-702 by spray or with a long nap roller at 250 to 300 ft2 per gallon. At 70º F allow primer to dry; 1 hr (min). Prime only areas to be   waterproofed the same way. Reprime if area becomes dirty. If using CCW-714 Water-based primer, apply with a  low pressure spray at 400-600 ft2 per gallon and allow to thoroughly dry (2-4 hours minimum at 75º F). Primer has a satisfactory cure when it will not transfer when touched.

Application on Horizontal Surfaces: Apply CCW-701 Sheet from low to high point, so that laps will shed water. overlaps edge seams 2-1/2", end seams 4" and staggered. Snap a chalk line for a starting point. Pull 2+ feet of release paper and place adhesive side of membrane along chalk line. As the roll is dispensed, simultaneously roll the release paper and maintain alignment along the chalk line. immediately after installation, roll sheet with a metal roller wrapped with a   resilient material. Roller should be 18' -24" wide and weigh at least 100 lbs.

Application on Vertical Surfaces: Apply CCW-701 Sheet Membrane in lengths of 8' or less. Overlaps edge seams 2-1/2". On walls above 8', apply in 8' sections, starting at the lowest point with the higher section overlapping the lower section 4". Use a suitable roller to press membrane firmly against wall.

Terminations: Consult Carlisle 701-9 details for proper terminations. CCW-701 Sheet Membrane should be installed over the top of a wall; over the edge of a slab. If the membrane must terminate on a vertical surface, use a reglet, termination bar or counter flashing. Roll terminating edge firmly.

CCW-701 Sheet Membrane shall be installed on the base of the foundation wall, over the edge of the footing and the terminating edge pressed firmly against the vertical surface of the footing.

Apply CCW-704 Mastic to all vertical and horizontal terminations. Apply to raps at angle changes, extending 9" in each direction.

Note: Failure to use adequate pressure at terminating edges will result in a poor seal and potential leak. The use of mastic is not a substitute for a good seal.

Repairs: Inspect all membrane for tears, punctures, fishmouths, air bubbles or voids due to misalignment at seams. Slit fishmouths and overlap the edges. Remove damaged membrane. Prime exposed concrete and allow primer to die. Apply CCW-701 Sheet over damaged area, extending onto sound membrane 6" on all sides. Firmly press and roll repair section to ensure a good seal. apply CCW-704 Mastic or CCW-703 V Liquiseal to terminating edges of patch.

Protection: CCW-701 Sheet Membrane must be protected from damage by future operations and other trades. The applicator shall install suitable protection course material to protect the membrane. The protection course may be CCW SURE-DRAIN (H or V) or CCW PROTECTION BOARD (H or V).

Install protection course on vertical walls immediately after installation of the CCW-701 Sheet Membrane. Install protection course on horizontal application immediately following flood test. If flood test is delayed, install a temporary covering to protect membrane from damage by other trades.

Flood Test: Plug drains and provide necessary barriers to contain flood water. Flood deck with a 1" head of water and allow to stand for 24 hours. Check for leaks and immediately make repairs if required. Retest after repairs have been made.

Backfill as soon as possible after successful flood testing.

Storage: Protect materials from excessive heat and cold. Store materials away from flames or sparks. Outside storage; protect from rain, direct sunlight or harmful environmental conditions.
