Window Sprinklers are the only listed sprinklers that can protect glazing in a wall and allow it to maintain it's rating up to two hours. The Window Sprinkler underwent the same fire tests, including the hose stream test, as do rated walls (essentially 2000° F for two hours). The results of the tests were conclusive. The Window sprinklers became the first ever sprinklers to be UL/C-UL Listed, and NES and CCMC Approved for maintaining a rated assembly. The window sprinklers are quick response and are available in a horizontal pendent and a vertical sidewall configuration. The pendent allows installation further away from the glass than the sidewall, however the sidewall allows for the use of the window “mullion” to act as a baffle so the sprinklers can be ran very close together, if necessary. Together they provide the only listed option to maintain the rating of a wall with standard, tempered, or heat strengthened glass.
