| PRODUCT BENEFITS: Radiance low-e wall finish helps reduce energy costs. As an example,
take a typical warehouse in Chicago with standard heating and cooling equipment. If
the owners of that warehouse spend nearly $7,000 a year to heat and cool the building
today, they could save more than $1,700 a year by using Radiance*. And that savings
pays off year after year after year. The same thing is true for a home. The
owners of a typical house in Miami that costs $1,400 a year to heat and cool could save
more than $200 a year by using Radiance.

* Energy savings will vary, depending on the
building and its construction materials. Radiance has developed a computer model to
help you estimate your savings.

HOW IT WORKS:
Radiant energy travels through the air in waves, and only
when it strikes another object does it actually produce heat. In the winter,
conventional interior paints and insulation absorb radiant energy waves, so that a good
deal of the radiant heat is lost to the outside. But Radiance reflects about 40
percent of the radiant energy back into buildings, making them more comfortable in winter.
In the summer, when the heat tries to enter buildings from the outside, a home can
actually trap heat during the day that continues to warm the building at night, long after
the outside air has cooled down. Radiance acts like a protective barrier, allowing a
smaller percentage of radiant energy to enter a building. This keeps it cooler and
saves energy by not making the air conditioning work as hard. |
