low-e interior eg-shel wall finish U.S. PATENT PENDING Product Description Radiance Low-e Eg-Shel Wall Finish is a latex-based interior paint that reflects radiant energy, keeping buildings warmer in winter and cooler in summer. Its unique formula results in lower energy costs and a higher level of comfort. Radiance Low-e Eg-Shel Wall Finish is applied like conventional one-coat wall paint, with roller, brush or sprayer. HOW TO APPLY RADIANCE LOW-E INTERIOR FLAT WALL FINISH Surface Preparation Drywall: Remove all surface contaminants by washing with an appropriate cleaner. Fill all cracks and nail holes with patching paste or spackle. Allow to dry and sand smooth. Joint compounds must be cured and sanded before priming. Remove all sanding dust. Water stains should be sealed with a commercial stain blocker. Prime with a commercial latex primer. Masonry, concrete, cement brick and block: Remove all laitance with appropriate cleaner and removal method. New construction must be cured for a minimum of 28 days. Remove all form releasing materials and cures. Fill all open block or rough surfaces with block filler. Plaster: Unpainted plaster must be fully cured. Textured and powdery plaster should be treated with 1 pint of vinegar diluted with 1 gallon of water. Wash and rinse until clean. Prime with an alkyd type primer. Wood: Sand to expose a fresh wood surface. Prime with a commercial wood primer. Patch nail holes and imperfections with a wood filler or putty and sand smooth. Previously painted surfaces: Remove all peeling or loose coatings by scraping or sanding. use sandpaper to dull semi-gloss or gloss finishes. Remove all contaminants by washing with an appropriate cleaner. Patch and fill holes and cracks as required. Spot prime all unpainted areas with the appropriate primer. Mildew: Mildew must be removed before painting. Wash surfaces with a solution of 1 quart household bleach in 3 quarts warm water. Wear rubber gloves and protective clothing. Apply the solution and scrub the mildewed area. Allow the solution to remain on the surface for 10 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and allow the surface to dry 48 hours before applying Radiance Low-e Eg-Shel Wall Finish, DO NOT ADD DETERGENTS OR AMMONIA TO BLEACH SOLUTION. Mixing Stir thoroughly before and during each use. Application Radiance Low-e Eg-Shel Wall Finish may be applied by brush, roller, power roller, pad or sprayer. A small amount of water or Flotrol may be added to Radiance Low-e Eg-Shel Wall Finish for any application. Roller: Use a 3/16" or 3/8" synthetic-nap roller cover. The longer the fiber, the greater the stipple. Airless sprayer: Recommended pressure is 2,000 psi using tip size 0.015" to 0.021". Dry Time Dries to the touch in 2-4 hours at 77°F and 50% relative humidity. Dry time between coats (if 2 coats are desired) 24 hours. See "For best Performance" below for special drying characteristics. Clean up Use warm, soapy water. Follow sprayer manufacturer recommendations when cleaning equipment. For Best Performance Radiance Low-e Eg-Shel Wall Finish assumes an uneven, streaked appearance as it dries. This is a natural property of this product. if Radiance Low-e Eg-Shel Wall Finish has been properly applied, the streaking will disappear after drying. Radiance Low-e Eg-Shel Wall Finish will change in color as it dries. For best results, cross roll and apply an even, thin film. DO NOT OVERAPPLY. Do not thin Radiance Loe-e Eg-Shel Wall Finish. A small amount of Flotrol may be added when spraying. Allow to dry 24 hours before recoating. Painting or wallpapering over a surface coated with Radiance Low-Eg-Shel Wall Finish will eliminate the heat reflecting properties.
