BONDERIZER FORMULA
RETARDANT
TILE THINSETS - SWIMMING POOLS
STUCCO - CONCRETE BLOCK PONDS - PLASTER
Under excessive heat condition and dry temperatures, we
recommend using Bonderizer Formula Retardant for all thinsets and other products that
incorporate a cement sand mixture.
BONDERIZER FORMULA:
Is an acrylic latex composition compounded with BERYLEX Liquid
Concentrate to provide greater density, waterproofing, better color
retention, non-shrinking, with exception bond strength, for thinsets, stucco, plaster,
concrete, porcelain type tiles, marble, swimming pools, wood, glass and over existing
tiles with thinsets.
SURFACE- PREPARATION:
Use HID (Heavy Industrial Dissolvent) first to remove oils, wax, grease, black asphalt
mastic or any other contamination. Follow with Allzup as per label.
FOR ETCHING SMOOTH CONCRETE SURFACE:
For better bonding, dilute Allzup 1 part with 1 part water. Disperse this over area and
let stand until liquid dries to white powder. Rinse off with water.
BONDERIZER FORMULA SOLUTION:
Stir contents thoroughly. Dilute 1 part Bonderizer Formula with 2 parts clean water and
stir again. Use Bonderizer Formula diluted as above as only wetting agent for all tile
thinsets, stucco, plaster concrete mixes and swimming pool coatings.
BONDING NEW CONCRETE TO OLD:
Blend 3 parts sand to 1 part cement for floors. On walls add 1 part lime. Use the above
Bonderizer Formula solution as the only wetting agent. Use no other water.
In a separate container pour a desired
amount of Bonderizer Formula full strength.
To this add dry cement and stir to a
brushable solution.
Brush this over the pre-wet area, while
still damp apply the pre-mix concrete.
Level cut to the desired thickness. It can
be troweled down to the existing surface. It will not peel or crack. Damp cure when
complete.
TO RESET LOOSE TILES:
Clean area as outlined in surface
preparation.
Use Bonderizer Formula solution for thinset.
Pre-wet area to be patched. While still
damp, apply brushable slurry coat.
Back butter each tile with thinset mix and
place in position. Tamp down to a flush surface.
TILING OVER TILE:
Clean area well, as outlined in surface
preparation. This will produce a chemically clean bondable surface. Mix thinset with
Bonderizer solution.
Spread over existing tile with a 1/2"
notch trowel.
Set tiles and use BERYLEX 44-T
as the only wetting agent for the grout.
Damp cure.
BONDING TILES TO PLYWOOD:
Make sure plywood is nailed down securely.
Check floor for possible flexing. If any, shore up from underneath if needed.
Seal and waterproof plywood, wallboard,
particle board, or backer board with Terra Matt prior to tiling.
TILING OVER WOOD WITH BONDERIZER
SOLUTION THINSET:
Lay 20 lb. felt over wood floor, overlap at
seams, and staple down.
Lay metal lath on top of 20 lb. felt. Staple
down. Drive all staples flat to metal lath.
Make up Bonderizer and thinset mix to
workable consistency.
With straight edge of trowel, apply thinset
to metal lath. Trowel down flush to existing metal lath.
When setting bed is dry, use a 1/2"
notch trowel to apply a thinset mix with Bonderizer Formula over existing prefloated
cement bed.
Set tiles in the float mix. Use beating
block to set tiles to a level finish.
Grout with BERYLEX 44-T in
grout mix. Damp cure.
PLASTER AND STUCCO:
Use only the diluted Bonderizer formula as
the wetting agent for the dry mix in each application, brown coat and finish.
This process will minimize shrinking, color
fading, as well as waterproofing.
Will give greater bonding strength to
existing surface, wire mesh, metal laths, etc.
Damp cure after each application.
SWIMMING POOL COATINGS:
Use Bonderizer solution in all mixings of color coat on pool area. Damp cure for 2 .days.
Will minimize color fading and shrinkage.
