BERYLEX Specifications
(cont.)
ADDITION OF BERYLEX:
BERYLEX specified at 16
ounces or less per sack of cement may be added at the batch plant. BERYLEX
specified at more than 16 ounces per sack of cement usually should be added at the job
site.
Batch Plant - BERYLEX may be added directly to the
gauging water or placed in solution and metered.
Job Site - Ask for a low slump of about 2 to 3 inches. When batch
truck arrives, measure out portion to above quantities to determine your mix design. Stir
well, stop the hopper; pour your BERYLEX LIQUID mix in the hopper. Allow
at least five minutes of fast mixing before discharging the concrete.
Notes -
1. Cold storage situations may require more than 48 ounces of BERYLEX LIQUID
per sack of cement, depending upon heat of hydration time.
Up to 64 ounces of BERYLEX LIQUID per sack may be used if early strength
prior to long temp freezing is required.
2. If air-entraining is required we recommend a vinsol-resin. Depending on
local waters, the amount of air-agent required far a given air readout may be reduced from
15% to 30%. BERYLEX does not impart any air - it does enhance the effect
of the vinsol-resin.
PLACEMENT:
Tamp tapping mix into the fresh bonding
slurry. Screed and wood float to grade. Steel trowel late and moderately.
CURE:
We recommend using either one of the following
curing methods.
1. Water cure for as long as practical. The thinner the topping the more critical is
the cure or hydration process. We recommend 7 days minimum.
2. Apply a membrane cure such as a thermo-set acrylic or chlorinated rubber
containing 26% solids immediately after final tooling.
