BERYLEX Specifications For Plaster

GENERAL:

The following are the proportions we usually specify for a "slush coat" (bonding dash coat) for bending Portland cement plaster to concrete surfaces, and the scratch and brown coats which would be applied over slush coat or directly to metal lath. Do not use a "Waterproof Type" cement.

PREPARATION OF SURFACE:

Follow standard procedures.

Mix:

All proportions specified for cement and sand are by volume.

Slush Coat -
1 part Portland cement
1 part Sand (coarse)
12 ounces of BERYLEX LIQUID per sack of cement

Scratch and Brown Coat-
1 part Portland cement
1/4-part Hydrated Lime (94%)
4 - 4 1/2 parts sand
12 ounces of BERYLEX  LIQUID per sack of cement

Final Coat -
If different from the above and for maximum resistance, use 12 -16 ounces of BERYLEX LIQUID per sack of cement

PLACEMENT:

Follow standard procedures. Rough finish Slush and Scratch coats.

CURE:

To eliminate crack formation caused by high temperatures or wind lick, fog spray with water every 4 hours for the first 48 hours. Twice a day for 2 days thereafter. This procedure generally applies to only the final coat.
