STEP 6:
Now its tine for the most important step, pre-sanding. To insure the smoothest route, and the fastest finish sanding, pre-sanding all finished edges is imperative. Using a 5" orbital palm sander with 80 grit sandpaper, sand totally smooth. Careful as not to distort the edge.

STEP 7:
A bottom edge design route can be run at this time, if needed or desired. Such as, a bullnose, bevel, or round over for example. If not needed, turn modular over to its topside position and rout edge design as
desired.

STEP 8:
Most edge designs can be finish sanded with a palm sander and 60 Micron. Others will require a hand sanding with ISO grit cloth paper (vsm), such as OGEE and bead edges to name a few,

STEP 9:
The top surface of the counter top should always be sanded in a circular pattern about the size of a basketball. This will insure an even finish, regardless of light refraction and viewing angle by the customer. Start with a large orbital sander (8") with 80 or 120 grit paper to remove any large deep scratches or uneven areas. Then go to a 220 grit on the same sander to remove marks made by previous grits.

STEP 10:
Now, using a S" palm sander and 220 grit or 60 Micron, in a circular motion, go over the whole surface at least 3 times, including the edge if needed. Inspect finish.

STEP 11:
If you are working with a dark color, 30 Micron or 400 grit paper with water is required as an additional step. Go over counter top at least 4 - S times in the same motion and pattern as before.

STEP 12:
All light and pastel colors should be scotch brited by hand with a maroon colored pad and water, and dried with a clean soft towel. All dark colors should be done by hand with a gray colored pad 'in the same manner. This will guarantee the customer easy maintainability for years, with a very even finish.

CUTOUTS

Sinks, cook tops, grills, or any other cutouts can be done with a circular or jig saw, but ALL finished cutouts must be touched up with a router. This helps to insure the life of the warranty, by preventing future cracking due to expansion and contraction caused by temperature changes. Ninety-five percent (95%) of all cutouts are done with a router. Touch up edges with 80 grit.
