The Harrison Hot Springs Hotel in British Columbia, Canada

In any business, the formula for success isn’t carved in stone. The Harrison Hot Springs Hotel in British Columbia, Canada, knows this all too well.

In 1989, the lakefront resort opened its luxurious 94-room East Tower. Polished stone surfaces projected an image of luxury on bar tops in hospitality suites and in guest room and public vanities. But as Rooms Division Manager Douglas Saunders explains, that luxury faded very quickly. "Over time, because stone is porous, anything wet would soak in. The stonework got very badly damaged. We started on a costly maintenance program to do whatever we could with it. That was not only costly, it wasn’t working."

After just six years of service, the hotel chose to tear out stone surfaces and replace them with CORIAN®.

In hospitality suites, stone surfaces in wet bars have been replaced with CORIAN®.
