PLACING SLAB:
10,000-12,000 sq ft per day
TILT WALL FORMWORK:
The 5" reinforced concrete floor slab was placed and the following day,
wall panel forms were site constructed with window openings, horizontal reveals and
314" plywood depressions for ceramic tile areas.
PLACING REINFORCING STEEL:
Reinforcing steel was placed with vertical bars at the wall's center and
horizontal bars toward the outside of the wall. #4 or #5 bars were typically placed at
12" or 16" on center.
PLACING CONCRETE:
The 5-1/2" thick concrete wall panels were poured with 4000 psi concrete
using high volume pumps.
TILTING UP WALL PANELS:
Taking an average of 20 minutes to set a panel, the building perimeter was
erected in three days. Panels were engineered for gravity, lateral loads and lifting.
CURING CONCRETE:
The 4000 psi concrete cured to a 3000 psi strength in seven days. This was a
sufficient strength for tilting the walls into place.
CONNECTING FOOTINGS:
Telescoping braces held panels in place until foundation and welded roof
structure connections were completed.

PAINTING AND SETTING OF CERAMIC
TILE:
Acrylic exterior paint was used for long term bonding. Economical acrylic also
provided the desired color intensity along with easier graffiti repair. Ceramic tile added
an additional texture and distinctive finish to the exterior.
