Span Book for Major Lumber Species
‘For some time, U.S. customers have asked for a single span book that would cover all main species groups,’ says John Burrows, CWC Senior Manager of Communications and Business Development. ‘We are filling a need and at the same time showing how Canadian lumber compares favourably with U.S. species.’ The Span Book was introduced at the 1997 NAHB in Houston. ‘We distributed 4,400 copies to very appreciative builders at the show and have plans to distribute thousands more to U.S. builders and architects,’ says Roger LeVasseur, CWC Manager of U.S. Business Development. The U.S. Span Book for Major Lumber
Species contains rafter, joist and header
spans for both Canadian and U.S.
species. The previous Canadian Wood
Council U.S. Span Book contained
information on Canadian species only, in
the same fashion that the various
U.S.-based books pertained to a limited
number of U.S. species groups.
