Description
GAFTEMP Permalite Roof Insulation is a rigid mineral aggregate insulation board composed of expanded perlite, cellulose fibers, binders, and water-resisting agents. Its tough top surface is treated to retain bitumen or a tight bond with the membrane. Available in 24" x 48" and 48" x 48" boards.

Uses
· A thermal insulation and base for most membranes over any structural deck.
· A layer to protect pure foam insulations from hot asphalts.
· A protective layer over soft insulation susceptible to traffic damage.
· When FMRC and/or UL approved systems are specified.

Advantages
· Tough, heavy top surface retains asphalt to bond tightly to the membrane.
· Exceptional fire resistance.
· Cost-effective thermal performance for moderate R-values.
· Proven performance for more than 30 years.
· Guaranteed as a substrate by most single ply, modified bitumen, and BUR membrane manufacturers.
· Resistant to water penetration.

Mechanical Attachment
For exact fastening recommendations, consult the GAF Materials Corporation GAFGLAS® or RUBEROID® Application and Specifications Manuals.

Applicable Standards:
GAFTEMP Permalite Roof Insulation is in compliance with:

· ASTM Standard C728
· UL Class A constructions on both combustible and non-combustible roof decks. Where UL labels are required, customer must so order in advance.
· UL requirements of TGKX metal deck assemblies.
· See UL Building Materials Directory for applicable UL Construction Numbers.
· See UL Fire Resistance Directory for Fire Resistance Rated Roof-Ceiling Design Numbers (BXUV).
· Listed in UL Building Materials Directory under Mineral and Fiber Boards (CERZ), Fire Hazard Classification of Mineral and Fiber Board (BQXR), and Built-Up Roof Covering Materials (TFJR).
· FMRC Class 1, FMRC Approved Treated Wood Roof Deck, Insulated Steel Deck, Concrete (Uplift Resistance Classification 1-60, 1-90, and 1-180), and Non-Combustible Deck Construction.
· FMRC Class 1 in "Approval Guide Equipment, Materials, Services for Conservation of Property."
· The Office of the California State Fire Marshall under Listing #4310-134:5; and Metro Dade County, FL.
· For the most current approvals, contact GAF MC Technical Services Department.

Limitations
Old roofing systems MUST be thoroughly dried and secured before product is applied as part of a recover roof system. GAF MC Permalite Roof Insulation is NOT acceptable for applications where it will be directly exposed to continuous soaking temperatures of greater than 250º F.
