GENERAL
- DESCRIPTION OF WORK
- Provide all tile work complete and in place, as shown and
specified, for a properly completed installation of the work for this section.
- Related work detailed elsewhere.
- QUALITY ASSURANCE
- Furnish all porcelain tile complying whit the American
National Standards Institute Specification ANSI A 137, 1 for ceramic tile.
- All tile shall be manufactured by GRANITIFIANDRE.
All tile shall be supplied by designated distributors per samples approved by the
architect.
- All porcelain tile submitted for this work must meet the
following technical rating as tested by the Smith-Emery Company of Los Angeles,
California.

- Installation shall be done by experienced workmen who are
thoroughly versed on the Tile Council of America 1989 Handbook for ceramic tile
installation.
- SUBMITTALS
- Submit GRANITIFIANDRE technical
information and installation materials product data. Include all certifications to
demonstrate agreement to the specifications.
- Submit samples of each GRANITIFIANDRE color, size,
and finish as specified by the architect.
- PRODUCT HANDLING
- All materials must be delivered to the job site and stored
in their original unbroken cartons.
- GRANITIFIANDRE should be stored in a dry
covered area.
- Additional tile of each finish, color, and size should be
ordered. This quantity of 2-3% shall be left on the site for the owner's future use.

- TILES Tiles shall be-selected by the
architect from the colors, size and finishes available as manufactured by GRANITIFIANDRE in accordance
with ANSI A137.1 and the technical ratings detailed herein at Section General B.3*.

- INSTALLATION MATERIALS
The contractor shall be a qualified installer and shall
furnish all labor, materials and equipment necessary to install setting and grouting
materials on floors and walls as denoted in specifications and drawings. The installation
shall conform to the most recent edition of the Tile Council of America Handbook. (Setting
material must contain an acrylic addittive for appropriate bonding). Thinset mortars must
include a latex additive that is suitable for use with porcelain tile. Consult with
installation materials manufacturer for specific recommendations.
- GROUTING MATERIALS
Consult grout manufacturer for technical information. It is
mandatory that a latex modified or epoxy grout be utilized for the installation of GRANITIFIANDRE materials.
- OTHER MATERIALS
Any additional material necessary for job completion will
be as recommended by the architect and exceed the standard of ANSI and TCA.
INSTALLATION
- SURFACE PREPARATION
- Substrate shall be structurally sound, solid and well
fastened. New concrete must be properly cured and designed for proper expansion and contro
joints. Existing joints in concrete subfloor must be carried through the tile work.
Plywood subfloor must consist of exterior grade plywood. Refer to the most current Tile
Council of America Handbook for specific design criteria.
- All surfaces must be clean and free from dust, dirt, oil,
grease, paint, wax, sealers, curing compounds or any other deleterious substances which
may reduce orprevent adhesion.
- For thinbed installation, new concrete surfaces shall be
wood-floated or broom-finished. In addition surfaces must be level and true to a tolerance
of ±1/8" (3mm.) in 10' (3m) for floors.
- Report any unacceptable surface to the architect and do not
install until these deficiencies are corrected.
- SETTING METHODS
GranitiFiandre may be installed by the conventional
thickbed method or by the thinbed method.
- GROUTING METHOD
- Follow exactly the grout manufacturer's instructions. It is
mandatory that a latex modified or epoxy grout and thin set be utilized in the
installation of GRANITIFIANDRE materials.
- Installation is not completed until all grout haze and
residues are removed.
- CLEANING AND PROTECTION
- Upon completion of installation and grouting, clean tile
surfaces. (Leave finished installation free of cracked, chipped, broken, unbonded, or
otherwise defective tile work).
- Prohibit foot and wheel traffic from the tiled floors for a
minimum of 3 days after grouting is completed.
