| GAS-FIRED UNIT HEATERS Hastings gas-fired unit heaters are suspended, self-contained and completely
automatic heating devices used for space heating. These units are the ideal heating system
for a variety of commercial and industrial applications. They can be applied almost
anywhere that space heating is required.
Fan models are normally used for space and spot heating.
Standard Equipment
All Models -
Cabinet :
Side panels of 20 gauge cold rolled steel, 20 gauge aluminized steel
drain pans on all models except except GFH-360 which is constructed of 18 gauge.
Side panels and drain pans are finished with enamel.
Adjustable two point hangers on GFH-100 thru 280. Fixed four point
hangers on GFH-360.
Collector Box :
22 gauge aluminized steel
Heating Section :
Choice of three all electric-welded heat exchangers :
1. Aluminized steel, 18 gauge tubes and 16 gauge header plates.
Internal baffles are aluminized steel with stainless steel tips.
2. Type 409 stainless steel .044" tubes and .050"
header plates. Internal baffles are .032". Type 409 stainless steel with
stainless steel tips.
3. Types 321 stainless steel, .041" tubes and .050" header
plates. Internal baffles are .032". Type 409 stainless steel with stainless
steel tips.
Burners are 18 gauge aluminized steel with Type 430 stainless steel
ribbon inserts to provide automatic proportioning or primary combustion air.
Power Venter with Blocked Vent/Air Proving Pressure Switch.
Gas and Electrical Components :
24 volt combination gas valve consisting of main and pilot gas
cocks, main and pilot gas pressure regulators, redundant solenoid gas valves, pilot
solenoid gas valve and safety shut-off; also high-limit control, fan control and 115/24
volt control transformer.
Motor(s)
All motors are cushion mounted, have overload protection are totally
enclosed.
Gas System :
For inlet gas pressure of 5" to 14" w.c natural gas, or
11" w.c propane.
Horizontal louvers :
Allows for 2-way air distribution.
Electronic Ignition Systems :
Natural Gas
a. Intermittent pilot with non-100%
shut-off - When room thermostat calls for heat, pilot valve opens and
pilot is spark ignited. Then when pilot is proven, main gas valve opens.
When room thermostat is satisfied, main gas valve and pilot valve are de-energized.
Propane
b. Intermittent pilot with 100%
shut-off - Same as non-100% shut-off except the system will lockout and
require manual starting if the pilot fails to ignite in a given time period.
Electronic ignition with propane must be 100% shut-off.

Room thermostats -
Several models of 24 volt thermostats available.
Fan time delay relay - Used to prevent system fan from short cycling
in rooms under 50 deg f. Standard control on GFH - 360 fan model.
Summer fan switch -
For continuous fan operation
230 and 460 volt power -
Replaces 115 volt power
High fuel pressure regulators
(field installed) :
a. 1/2 to 5 lb line pressure
b. Over 5 lb line pressure

NOTE : Flue gas flow up through tubes into diverter. In diverter is
a restricted panel to slow the flow of these gases. Once gases pass through restricter
panel they will exit through opening in the inner wall into other half of diverter. Then
gases will be removed from this chamber through the last tube of heat exchanger, which has
all baffles removed. At bottom of tube gases will enter into exhaust box mounted in
burner tray. Gases then are removed from this box out side of cabinet. This flow of
gases is made possible through the use of a power venter mounted on outside of unit. |
