Equipment Maintenance
It should not normally be necessary to
clean the heat wheel since alternating air flow provides effective self-cleaning. Inert
dust passes thru the wheel quite easily. Larger particles such as leaves and insects are
trapped by 2" cleanable filters located in both the supply and exhaust air streams.
If heat wheel cleaning is desired, however, hot water, low pressure steam, solvents or
compressed air may be utilized.
Periodic inspections are recommended in
order to maintain the highest possible efficiency. The required frequency, of course, will
depend on the type of duty and conditions surrounding the installation. If desired,
Hastings highly qualified factory service organization can be retained for start-up and
maintenance.

A. Regenerative type heat recovery wheel with (bondex)
(desiccant) coated aluminum heat transfer media shall be furnished. Wheel shall have air
seals and be belt driven by a fractional horsepower constant-speed gear motor.
B. Package shall have weatherproof housing suitable for
rooftop mounting with lifting lugs, drain connections, side access panels and base frame.
C. Forward curved, double width/double inlet, class 1 fans
with open drip-proof motors shall be supplied for both supply and exhaust.
D. Back-draft dampers and banks of filter racks for 2"
cleanable filters shall be supplied for both exhaust and supply airstreams. A louver and
birdscreen shall also be provided for fresh air intake.
E. Warm-side of exhaust shall be insulated with fiberglass
of one inch thickness to provide for greater energy retention.
F. Factory-wired controls and starters shall be furnished.
A remote-control panel with operating switches and indicating lights shall also be
included.
