GLAZING GUIDELINES
ArmorSecure products shall be installed in accordance with glazing guidelines set forth in the Flat
Glass Manufacturer's Association (FGMA) Glazing Manual. The installation of the glass should be
considered a finishing procedure.
During glazing, ArmorSecure surfaces should be protected from paint, plaster, chemical splash or
welding spatter. Some PVC, EPDM, neoprene gasket, sealant and setting block materials are not
compatible with ArmorSecure materials and can cause cloudiness and delamination. Contact the
manufacturer of any proposed glazing materials prior to using with ArmorSecure. Typical products
recommended include Tremco 440 glazing tape, GE 1200 or Dow Corning 999 sealants, and
Santoprene® gasket and setting block materials.
Framing members must be weeped, designed for support, allow expansion and provide proper
edge and face clearance without causing abnormal mechanical stresses on the glass, which could
cause breakage and edge damage. Minimum 1/4" edge and 1/8" face clearances are
recommended to prevent glass-to-metal contact. Minimum edge engagement is 3/4" and should
never be less than the ArmorSecure thickness. |
