Perimeter Metal
Aluminum channel, used as perimeter metal framing, encompasses the sill (floor), jambs (sides), and head
(ceiling). It can be exposed, cladded, or recessed to increase visual appeal.
Mainplates
Glass mainplates are sometimes called face plates or facade panels. The mainplates form the vertical plane
which is the vision area. In monolithic installations the mainplates are typically 1/2" tempered, clear, bronze, or
gray glass, with silicone butt joints. In insulating glass walls the mainplates are typically 1-1/4" to 1-3/8" thick with
a 1/2" air space. Insulating glass units can be tinted, reflective, laminated, or Low-E depending upon energy,
design, or aesthetic criteria.
Structural Silicone
Tempglass' design requires the use of structural silicone sealants. All Tempglass furnished components are
compatible with structural silicone. Verification of sealant compatibility, especially at the wall perimeter, may be
required by the sealant manufacturer. Neutral cure, structural silicone sealants are required for insulating
STACKWALL installations. |
