Spandrel Glass and Decorative Silkscreening

SPANDREL GLASS Spandrel glass allows you to add an extra touch of design and color to the exterior or interior of a building. Spandrel gives you the opportunity to create beauty through color and design, while maintaining the durability of the glass. A ceramic enamel coating is permanently fused to the glass to create an opaque color. The strength of the spandrel glass makes it ideal for exterior use or windows and skylights, but it is lightweight enough to be used for decorative purposes. This unique combination of strength and beauty is why spandrel glass is often used to refurbish older buildings. We create spandrel glass by using an advanced roller-coating process. Spandrel panels offer distinct aesthetic and economic benefits. The ceramic frit coatings are available in a wide range of colors and can be applied to clear, tinted and pyloric reflective glass. The fired ceramic enamel, second surface, is durable and resists scratching, chipping, peeling, fading and chemical attack. Our spandrel glass is two to four times stronger than annealed glass due to the heat strengthening or tempering during fabrication. DECORATIVE SILKSCREENING Silkscreening permits a unique opportunity in glass fabrication to design a variety of patterns and colors that will add to the overall aesthetic layout of a building. The fire fused frosted color ceramic enamels are more durable than acid-etched or sand-blasted surfaces less susceptible to staining, and easier to clean. HGP can produce decorative silkscreen designs by combining standard or custom ceramic color with whatever pattern you request. Creative use of sunlight and interior lighting could also enhance the beauty of the silkscreen pattern. Processing of these patterns can be done in high volume or custom size orders. HGP silkscreening is heat strengthened or fully tempered for extra durability and strength. Silkscreening can add a dramatic touch to atriums, skylights, decorative panels and spandrel applications. Adjacent lites can continue pattern concepts, wrapping an entire structure In ceramic design. |
