GENERAL CONSTRUCTION DATA
Temperature and humidity conditions closely approximating those which will exist when
building is occupied shall be maintained before, during, and after the application of
panels
Installation shall not be made when building is excessively cold,
hot, and/or damp.
Precondition Carpet Board by separating panels and exposing to
natural environmental humidity for not less than 24 hours. During installation, all
panel edges must be spaced 3/8" from all walls and partitions to allow for expansion
and contraction. On runs overs 50', provide 1/2" expansion joint. All panel joints
must be staggered regardless of panel size. Sub-floor must be flat (not cupped), dry
lumber, level and securely fastened to joists. Shim or sand sub-floor as necessary to
provide flat surface for Carpet Board.
Installation for use with Carpet and Pad
- 1/2" or (5/8") thick by 1 1/2" wide wood nailers shall
first be nailed and/or glued to wood subfloor at all locations where tackless strips are
to be used.
- Apply a 3/8" bead of APA approved decking adhesive to carpet
board, holding back 3/4" from panel edge, as shown in the "GLUE-NAIL
Pattern" below.
- Turn Carpet Board over and place adhesive side down to subfloor.
- Follow immediately with nailing of Carpet Board to subfloor, from the
center out, using annular threaded nails of sufficient length to penetrate a minimum of
1" into subfloor. Nail as shown in "glue-Nail pattern" below. Nail Carpet
Board additionally in any areas that are not laying down flat into adhesive.
- Follow with next panels leaving 3/16" expansion space between
sheets at all times.
- After a minimum of 48 hours for adhesive to set nail tackless strips
to the top of wood nailers, followed by the installation of carpet and pad.
*NOTE if adhesive omitted panels must be nailed 6" o.c. along
panel edges and 10" o.c. throughout the field of panel.

- Follow with next panels leaving 1/8" expansion space between
sheets during installation.
- After a minimum of 48 hours, fill 1/8" spacing between
panels with a quality interior floor patch.
- Apply carpet adhesive and carpet to Carpet Board following
manufacturer's instructions.
Installation for use with Vinyl, Wood Parquet, Wood Strip
Flooring and Ceramic Tile
- Follow 2, 3, 4, and 5 of "Installation for use with Carpet and
Pad"
- After a minimum of 48 hours apply 1/4" or greater thickness
plywood of suitable underlayment grade* (lauan or equal) over Carpet Board.
- Attach plywood to Carpet Board, assuring hat plywood joints do not
coincide with the Carpet board.
- After a minimum of 48 hours install finish floor covering in
accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
- *NOTE: Must be suitable thickness and grade acceptable to finish
flooring manufacturer.
