The BACnet standard: Multi-vendor system integration
BACnet, an ASHRAE-sponsored open standard, was developed by
a team of interested building controls suppliers and potential users
of the technology, including Honeywell.
BACnet technology provides an excellent framework for integrating
islands of control systems from many vendors into one, cohesive
building management system. It is the standard that enables both
new and existing systems to move forward seamlessly into an open
environment.
The LonMark standard: Interoperability
The LonMark standard provides a clear path to interoperability
plug-and-play solutions within control "islands". This standard has
been crafted by experts in the building control, industrial control,
factory automation, and transportation industries.
Our dedication to open solutions means a commitment to the
LonMark standard in all of our newest distributed control products
and to the BACnet standard for system-level integration. |
Leadership: Defining BACnet, leading LonMark
We have taken a leadership role in the design and development of
both standards. Our investment in the development of the BACnet
standard included working closely with customers and other industry
suppliers to ensure a standard that meets the specific needs of the
marketplace.
We were among the first building control suppliers to join the
LonMark standard's self-funded user's group, which defines
interoperability requirements for LonWorks-equipped products. We
chair the LonMark HVAC task group and serve on the LonMark
Industrial Council. We will continue to create customer-driven
solutions by working with both LonMark and BACnet.
