HORNER

    SUSPENDED SYSTEMS

VARI-CUSHION SYSTEM

Vari-Cushion is a specially-designed cushioned sport flooring system. A continuous layer of 1/4" polyethylene foam supports the ever-popular Thrust-A-Cushion pads, providing two distinct levels of shock absorption. Light loads only compress the polyethylene foam, while heavier loads compress both foam and Thrust-A-Cushion pads. The transfer of forces takes place smoothly and energy is returned to the participant in an efficient manner.

MATERIALS - VARI-CUSHION SYSTEM

  1. Finish Flooring: 33/32" or 25/32" thick x 2 1/4" or 1 1/2" wide, continuous tongue and groove and end-matched Horner Northern Hard Maple, treated with WOODLIFE F preservative if so specified. OPTION: Horner Multisport, 5/16" or 11/16" thick Second and Better Grade.
  2. Foam Layer: 1/4", multicellular, closed cell polyethylene Vari-Cushion foam.
  3. Cushion Pads: 2 1/4" x 3" x 3/8" - or 5/8"- thick Thrust-A-Cushion pads.
  4. Subfloor: 15/32" APA-rated sheathing grade plywood, exposure 1, or 7/16" OSB.
  5. Wall Base: 3" x 4" Ventcove heavy duty molded, vented vinyl base with premolded outside corners and mitered inside corners.

SLAB DEPRESSION

  • Concrete slab depression shall be 2 1/4" for 25/32" flooring, or 2 1/2" for 33/32" flooring. For 5/8" pad, add 1/4" to depression. For MultiSport flooring, subtract 1/4" from depression.

ALL-WOOD, FR, FR-1 SYSTEMS

An all-wooden subfloor assembly that provides uniform resiliency, excellent shock absorption, and a high level of energy return. The actual level of shock absorption can be controlled by adjusting the spacing between the 1" x 6" 's (nominal). The system will provide the desired level of resiliency for any activity, from basketball to aerobics.

MATERIALS - STA FAST SYSTEM

  1. Finish Flooring: 25/32" or 33/32" thick x 2 1/4" or 1 1/2" wide, continuous tongue and groove and end-matched Horner Northern Hard Maple, treated with WOODLIFE F preservative if so specified.
  2. Subfloor: 1" x 6" (nominal) Second and Better Gym Grade Hemlock, No. 2 spruce, Fir, or Pine S2S to 3/4" x 6" x RL, treated with WOODLIFE F preservative if so specified. OPTION: 2 layers of 1/32" sheathing plywood, exposure 1, or 7/16" OSB.
  3. Horner Foam: 1/4" multi-cellular, closed cell plastic foam. 1/4" x 3" foam strips for FR and FR-1 systems. Density: 2.0 PCF.
  4. Wall Base: 3" x 4" Ventcove heavy-duty molded, vented vinyl cove base with pre-molded outside corners and mitered inside corners.

SLAB DEPRESSION

  • Concrete slab depression shall be 2 1/2" for 25/32" flooring, or 2 3/4" for 33/32" flooring. For plywood or OSB subfloors, subtract 1/2" or 5/8", respectively, from slab depressions.
SAFE™ ALL-WOOD FR, FR-1 SYSTEMS

The Horner SAFE™ All-Wood FR System is a true all-wooden sports flooring system, specially designed to provide a level of impact force reduction exceeding DIN 18032, Part 2 performance requirements. With its superb shock absorption characteristics this system reduces leg fatigue and exhibits outstanding playing characteristics.

MATERIALS - FIXED SLEEPER SYSTEM

  1. Finish Flooring: 25/32" thick x 1 1/2" or 2 1/4" wide, continuous tongue and groove and end-matched Horner Northern Hard Maple, treated with WOODLIFE F preservative if so specified.
  2. Subfloor: 1" x 6" (nominal) Second and Better Gym Grade Hemlock, No. 2 spruce, Fir, or Pine S2S to 3/4" x 6" (nominal) x RL, treated with WOODLIFE F preservative if so specified.
  3. Cushion Pads: 7/16" or 3/4" Horner SAFE™ pad.
  4. Wall Base: 3" x 4" Ventcove heavy-duty molded, vented vinyl cove base with pre-molded outside corners and mitered inside corners.

SLAB DEPRESSION

  • Concrete slab depression shall be 2 3/4" for 7/16" SAFE™ pad, or 3" for 3/4" SAFE™ pad.
