Series 4000, 5000 and Automatic Fire Door Operators

The Horton Series 5000 pneumatic automatic swing door operator can automate swing doors used by pedestrians or vehicles in both commercial and industrial environments.

The operator is designed for opening heavy doors, such as lead lined doors or large steel doors in industrial facilities and institutions.

The operator uses 24 VAC electric current and is housed in a
6"x6" (152x152) aluminum cover similar to the Series 4100 side load cover on page 10.

The operator works on an air cylinder design. A remote, compressed air supply is required.

• Adjustable time delay of 2-28 seconds.

• Series 5900 fire door operator combines the Series 5000 operator and the appropriate fire exit hardware latch actuator with fire
  (heat/smoke) detection devices. See below.

• Capable of opening doors up to 500 lbs. total weight.

• Option: Explosion proof.

Automatic Fire Door Operators

These operators are for use on fire door openings. They are surface applied and include the connecting arm and fire exit hardware latch actuator. The operator requires a fire alarm contact or a heat/smoke-sensing device to cut power to the operator and position-latch actuator. (Sensor not included unless specified.) A spring closes the door. A UL listed door opening is provided if UL labeled doors, frame, hinges and fire exit hardware (Von Duprin 8827 and 8847 only) are also included. Series 5900 requires an air supply.

Electric panic hardware can also be used with either operator.
