Switch Level Dimming — HID |
Hubbell’s Switch Level Dimming operation creates zones of control connected through the SLIP (Switch Level
Interface Panel) in both new construction or retrofit applications. Payback is determined by the amount of low
level lighting and reduced input watts versus full time high level lighting levels. Input wattage can be reduced by
about 50% for both HPS and Metal Halide.
- Each Switch Level Dimming luminaire requires either a four wire plug and receptacle or a four wire
splice connection with 120V control (five wire for 24V)
- Each SLIP interface panel starts all luminaires at high light levels and prohibits luminaire dimming for a
preset 15 minute period to allow complete lamp warm-up according to lamp manufacturer’s
requirements
- One control wire is required for each control zone (two control wires for low voltage, 24V)
- The SLIP interface panel must be powered by 120V AC and be connected to the service common. An
auto-transformer can be used to supply the SLIP interface voltage if the system voltage is other than 120
V AC
- Each SLIP interface panel is supplied with manual override terminals, that when connected by a switch
will force all luminaires (in all zones) to full output
- Each SLOD occupancy detector can be energized by an independent 120V AC source for maximum
versatility
- One or more SLOD occupancy detectors are required for each zone, if independent, multiple zone
control is desired
- Zones may contain luminaires wired to multiple phases
- Multiple SLOD occupancy detectors, wired in parallel may be used to control one zone
- Each SLOD occupancy detector must be wired to the SLIP interface panel or directly to a fixture
Power Input Reductions up to 50% Depending on Specific Lamp
Controls
- Manual - switch
- Automatic - occupancy sensor
