Now with the industry's widest selection, Jewett blood bank products represent a range of
models developed for short-term refrigeration or long-term preservation of blood components
at temperatures from +4°C to -85°C. Jewett equipment is designed for a variety of clinical
and research laboratory applications. Models include wall-mounted and undercounter
refrigerators and plasma freezers, refrigerated labeling stations and large capacity walk-in
rooms for high volume storage and processing.
Performance Criteria
Refrigerators, plasma freezers and ultra-low temperature red cell freezers are designed to
meet American Association of Blood Banks, American National Red Cross, and Food and
Drug Administration criteria for blood component storage. Each model includes an electronic
temperature controller with an independent microprocessor-based digital alarm and monitor
system for power and temperature. Hermetically-sealed refrigeration systems feature forced
air-flow and surplus BTU removal capacity for quick temperature recovery following door
openings. All models maintain at design temperatures in high ambient conditions.
Temperature Controller
Jewett products utilize a solid-state electronic temperature controller to assure temperature
uniformity and stability with the most efficient, cost-effective demand on refrigeration
components. The temperature sensor is permanently sealed in a stainless steel probe and
mounted within the air-flow system. The system provides a quick response to changes in
cabinet temperature, ambient conditions, warm product loading, and door openings.
ALARM AND MONITOR SYSTEM
The T100 and DTPM alarm/monitor systems protect your stored product. Operating
independently of the electronic temperature controller, monitors feature a large easy-to-read
digital temperature display with resolution to 0.1°C. Self-test and self-check functions on the
T100 maintain system accuracy. Audible and visual warnings activate on AC power failure or
deviation from setpoint.
Alarm limits are factory-set to AABB specifications. Other features include:
- Battery backup with battery test switch; uses common 9V alkaline cell.
- Remote alarm connections.
- Automatic calibration, power failure test and alarm self-test circuit to simulate
temperature deviation.
- Thermistor probes thermally weighted in simulated product bottles.
The alarm/monitor is built into the main control panel on reach-in cabinets.

CFC-FREE REFRIGERANT
Virtually all Jewett Refrigerators are manufactured using CFC-free refrigerant, insulation and
packaging as identified by the Montreal Protocol, to help preserve the natural environment.
Jewett was among the first blood bank and laboratory refrigerator manufacturers to meet U.S.
and international guidelines calling for elimination of CFC refrigerants by the year 2000.
New CFC-free refrigerants will continue to be integrated into Jewett products only after
meeting rigid operational and performance standards required to maintain product quality
and customer satisfaction.
