Introduction |
These material safety data sheets are available through the Product Information Center, 1-800-654-3103, via Fax Express®, 1-888-329-3977,
or on the JM website, www.jm.com, and should be read and understood by all involved personnel prior to using and handling JM materials. In
addition to the MSDS, JM products have health and safety precautions printed on the product label or packaging. The user is strongly urged to
familiarize himself with this information prior to using the product, and to observe these precautions during use.
1.10 Disposal of Waste Materials and Containers
1.10.1 Disposing of unused or waste materials from a roofing project can pose special problems when these materials are considered to be
hazardous under federal, state, or local regulations.
1.10.2 Some of the roofing products that JM sells, when it comes time for disposal, are viewed as "hazardous waste", and must be treated as
such by the responsible user. An example of these products are the MBR® Bonding Cement Base and Activator.
1.10.3 Regulations describe in detail what constitutes a hazardous waste, what actions should be taken with these hazardous wastes, when
containers are considered to be "empty", and what should be done with empty containers. Information can be obtained from an office of the
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), or other state or local agencies. In some cases, state and local regulations can be more stringent
than federal regulations.
1.10.4 Information on specific JM products can be obtained by reading the appropriate Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for that product.
Also, more specific information on disposal of the MBR Cement Products can be found in the "Modified Bitumen Specifications", Section 7 or
in the submittal data sheets for these products in Section 3.
